Denver to Grand Junction, in tweet pics

Aboard Amtrak, Rocky Mountains —

The train trek from Denver to Grand Junction is certainly one of the most beautiful stretches of rail track in the country. It switchbacks up into the Rocky Mountains before literally burrowing right underneath the Continental Divide in a six-mile tunnel before following the Colorado River through the mountains for the better part of the day before reaching the other side of the state.

It’s about a 250 mile trip and it took more than seven hours to traverse it via Amtrak. During that time, I saw snow squalls, bald eagles, frozen waterfalls and enough mountain passes to last the rest of my occutour.

To pass the time, I took a few pictures along the way and tweeted them out when cell service was available. Because I know not all of you follow me on twitter, I compiled the tweets and accompanying photos below.
